Learn to Communicate through Martial Arts

In the practice of martial arts, communication isn't limited to spoken words; it's a crucial element that transcends age and experience.

At our Sherman Oaks Martial Arts school, we believe that effective communication is key to success in martial arts and life.

"To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others."

- Tony Robbins

• Confidence Booster: A strong and confident posture communicates readiness and determination, instilling fear in opponents and respect from peers.

• Focus Indicator: Proper posture signals your mental focus, keeping you in tune with the present moment, a critical skill taught in our martial arts.

Teamwork Sign: In group sessions, good posture shows you're ready to engage, supporting the success of your team.

2. Voice

• Voice Control: Learning to control your voice in martial arts enhances your ability to give and follow directions.

• Self-Expression: We encourage students to use their voices to ask questions, share experiences, and build self-confidence.

• Effective Teaching: Instructors use clear communication to guide students, ensuring they understand techniques and concepts.  We then give concise evaluations during feedback periods.  Meet our Instructors. Meet Our Instructors

3. Gestures

• Non-Verbal Communication: Hand signals and gestures facilitate quick, silent communication during sparring or practice.

• Body Language: Understanding your opponent's gestures helps you predict their moves and respond effectively.

• Cultural Awareness: In martial arts, various gestures and bowing signify respect and honor, fostering trust.

At Kuk Sool Won Sherman Oaks, we've witnessed kids improving their communication skills, adults developing new abilities, and families forging lasting relationships through martial arts.

After I started working from home, I became very sedentary and unhealthy. The gym doesn’t really work well for me so I started looking for martial art classes and came across Kuk Sool Won. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me. Master Wilson is amazing and I’ve gotten both mentally and physically healthier. I’ve found some new friends and a safe place to work out and improve myself.
